So I wanted to quickly explain the difference between the words percent and percentage. While there are times when they can be used interchangeably, I am requesting that you only use them in the following manner.
The simplest and easiest way of choosing between these words is by using percent with a number and percentage without a number.
For example:
- Only thirty five percent of the voters went to the polls last year.
- What percentage of voters went to the polls last year?
